The Thrale Charity grant programme for 2020 has just opened. For this year the charity is specifically focusing their grant giving on organisations helping with the impact of COVID – whether through helping to promote health and wellbeing, or alleviating economic and social hardship caused by the pandemic. More money is available this year than in the past - £50,000 in total. Like last year, Thrale are hoping that lots of organisations from SE27 will apply.
This week is National Tree Week - running until Sunday 6 December 2020. Tree Week is promoted by the Tree Council as the UK’s largest annual tree celebration and to mark the start of the winter tree planting season (November to March each year). This year, as for most things in 2020, events and activities are a little different than usual.
A full programme of both live (socialy distanced) and online events is planned for December. Father Christmas will be available via Zoom from the North Pole, a Crystal Palace Christmas Concert will be performed live both to a socially distanced audience and online, and weekend Christmas Markets are planned. See what's on here.
We are pleased to hear that the Friends of Gipsy Hill’s fundraiser for their first community Christmas tree has successfully met its target. The tree represents light shining out in the dark evenings and a focal point to bring the community together. read more about the tree of hope here on the Friends website.
