Norwood and Brixton Foodbank: Annual food collection

The annual Tesco supermarket collection will be on Thursday, 21, Friday, 22 and Saturday 23 November. As usual it will take place at the Streatham and Brixton stores which will generously add an additional 20% to the total amount collected.

Are you entitled to a free flu jab on the NHS?

A free flu vaccination is offered on the NHS to those who are at increased risk from the effects of flu. These include people aged 65 and over, pregnant women, those with underlying health conditions and children (aged 2-10). If you’re eligible, you can get your flu vaccination from your general practice or pharmacy to help protect yourself this winter. Pregnant women may also be offered the vaccine through their maternity service.

Norwood Forum supports Norwood Feast Black History Month 2019

Sade Cole who organised Black History Month writes: 

“Norwood Forum kindly donated towards Feast Black History Month held on Sunday 6 October 2019.  Norwood Forum's donation went towards providing a Ghanaian drumming workshop organised by One Drum held in front of St Luke’s Church.  The One Drum performance included a history of the drums and gave children and mums & dads a chance to play, sing along and dance. 

West Norwood Cemetery: HLF Parks for People project

Background

One of London’s large ‘Magnificent Seven’ cemeteries, West Norwood Cemetery opened in 1837 to relieve the overcrowding in small parish graveyards caused by the huge increase in the capital’s population during the 19th century. Grade II* listed, West Norwood was the first in the UK to be designed in the Gothic Revival style. It is home to 69 listed monuments, many of which have become run down in recent years.
