Start-Up in London Libraries (SiLL) invite young people to free business start-up seminars. Learn how it can all be organised and you can get your business up and running. For people aged 16 to 20. Course starts in October 2019 running 5-8pm.

With the support of Portico Gallery, community groups Norwood Planning Assembly, Norwood Forum, Norwood Action Group and Station to Station (our local BID) held a public meeting on 24 September to discuss the quality of the air that we all breath – and what we can do to improve it.
This Action for Happiness Course in the Community Room at West Norwood Fire Station gives you the chance to meet friendly people, explore what really matters in life, find new ways of looking at things and simple ways to make yourself and others happier. People find the course really enjoyable and often say it that what they learn can be life-changing.
Due to construction work at 73-79 Knollys Road, there will be disruption affecting the whole street. Knollys Road will be closed on Monday 23 September for one or two weeks depending on how quickly the work progresses. There will also be gas works, which will mean the road will be closed again be closed 9-11 October 2019. Further road closures are expected for Thames Water - of course! - but the date for this has not been finalised.
Rathbone Youth Centre based at The Old Library in West Norwood is looking for local people who can spare one hour a week to volunteer as Learning Mentors. Previous experience is not necessary, just the willingness to support a young person with homework and study skills. We are also looking for people to help with Spanish homework.
In late August the Norwood Pensioners Group went on a coach trip sponsored by Norwood Forum visiting Bewl Water, Biddenden Vineyards and finishing at the Kent and East Sussex Railway for a cream tea on board a vintage carriage drawn by a working steam engine. The bus driver and guide for the day was our Chair, Sunil de Sayrah.
Lambeth Recycling Doctors have been out on the streets over the past couple of months, discovering what residents have been putting in their recycling bins. The most common incorrect materials they've found are:
Plastic film: this has cropped up in one form or another in around 80% of the bins they've looked at. Although much household plastic packaging is recyclable, a good rule of thumb is that if it can be scrunched up into a ball, it can't be recycled.
It's possible that an early general election will be called soon. Make sure you can have your say by registering to vote online, it's quick and easy to do.

Norwood Forum has received an update (dated 5 September 2019) on progress with the works to renew the water mains along Norwood Road. Some 338m of the planned 840m of new 600mm Ductile Iron trunk main has now been installed via an open cutting.
